MOTORCYCLE BATTERIES.........IT LIVES! (again)

I am a biker, and have been
for the past 54 years. Oh, I admit that
I have become a fair weather rider and I do remember condemning “dem dar dudes” when I used to build my Harleys from parts bins. But, we all grow up and move on to more machines.
Last year I went to Sears and
purchased a new Die-Hard battery for my old faithful GL1000 Gold Wing. Ten months later it would not take a charge
so I trudged it back to Sears for warrantee trade in. That was refused because I did not save my
receipt. So back to my office and I laid
it on an unused desk, then back to work.A few days later, I was
having lunch with my friend Ralph Cocchiola (another reliable rider). He was at
the unused desk eating his sandwich and asked about the battery. I told him the story and said that he too had
the same problem. However, he found this
charger on the internet that supposed to resurrects these batteries …so he
ordered one, tried it and it worked.
Later on he brought it in for me to
try it on my bike battery, hooked it up on that desk and left it
there. I had forgotten about it and
when Ralph came in for a “Hello” a week later, he asked about the battery and
his charger. “Ralph, I have been so busy
that I forgot all about it.” I replied.
“Well let’s see how it is.” says Ralph.
Needless to say, that battery was as good as new and has been cranking
the Ole Girl this whole Summer.OK, now comes the good stuff
to share my good fortune with all brother members in our Club. I too wanted one of these unique battery
chargers and I wanted to know why his charger worked so well and mine did
not. Searching the Internet for the
product revealed that the manufacturer (vdcelectronics.com) was not only in my
Township, but only two miles away …and our children go to the same school. Wow, talk about living in a small World. Needless to say, we immediately took on the
line as one of their Distributors
Let’s start with why our
motorcycle batteries do not last like they should. According to the BCI (Battery Council International)
85% of the nearly 75 Million Lead Acid Batteries sold each year in the United
States will die before their design life is reached due to sulphation. Now there is a word we have all heard about
but do nothing about, sulphation. Why, because we don’t know how to. The product we are talking about is called BatteryMINDer™ which will desulphate
our motorcycle battery.
This Patented (2/6/2001)
product uses high frequency electronically generated pulses to cause the
sulphate crystals to resonate, or unbind and return the sulfuric acid to the
electrolyte, raising the electrolyte reading and cleaning the charge
plates. It prevents the sulphates from
building up on the bottom of the cell which eventually short out the cell. It works on all Lead acid batteries:
Maintenance Free, AGM, and Gell Cells to extend battery life by 40% or
more.
I bought a new Corvette in
2001. I drive it every day except when
the snow flies. My original AGM battery
was showing 10.8 volts telling me it was time for a new one at $125.00 from my
local Chevrolet Dealer. Just to see what
happens, I installed a BatterMINDer™ On
Board Desulphator which desulphates the battery while I
drive …my battery is now reading 12.8 Volts.
Well let’s look at the
obvious advantages of having a good battery reading. If the battery requires charging, it means
that the Alternator has an additional load imposed upon it. This then relates
to the use of additional horsepower, which also translates to a decrease in gas
mileage as well as less wear and tear on the Alternator system.
The BatteryMINDer™ series of
products will capably extend a battery’s life and in many cases resurrect a
questionable one to a serviceable life whether it from a motorcycle,
automobile, truck, airplane, jet ski, boat, tractor, electric scooters, or just
about anything that uses a lead acid battery sealed or otherwise.
